Introducing our 2017 Social Mission Partner!
At Fig, we believe in the power of a community that works together to identify needs and find solutions. We began connecting with local non-profits for our Social Mission Partnership eight years ago, a program that awards organizations strengthening the fabric of our community with free advertising in each issue of Fig for one year.
Since 2009, we've worked with 24 organizations, including A Week Away, Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic, Girls on the Run, Friendship Heart Gallery, Lancaster Public Library, Children Deserve A Chance Foundation, Power Packs Project, and Music for Everyone, to name a few.
We're thrilled to announce that in 2017 we're switching up the program and spending the entire year celebrating one meaningful non-profit especially important to the Fig team. Meet our 2017 social mission partner: Clare House!
Clare House serves homeless women and children in a caring environment, through life skills training and support, leading to self-sufficiency.
Maggie, her husband, and their four children moved to Lancaster from Puerto Rico. Only a year after arriving, Maggie needed to report her husband for child abuse, resulting in his incarceration. Speaking limited English, having most of their assets in his name, Maggie was unfortunately left with nothing and was evicted. After connecting with Clare House, Maggie gained full time employment, began ESL classes, and after six months in-house, moved into a beautiful new apartment in time for all the kids to start a new school year.
