This contest is closed. We’ll announce our winner shortly!
This time around we’re teaming up with three of Lancaster’s best restaurants in town for a Per-Fig Pairing competition and your chance to win. Our last winner, Karen Ulery, won a gift certificate to Annie Bailey’s. This time around you can win:
A $50 gift certificate for either:
The Belvedere Inn or Gibraltar.
We’ll tell you how to enter to win in a bit, but first, we asked the chefs of these three fine eateries to come up with their “per-fig pairing” of food and a cocktail. Between now and the end of March, you can try them out and vote on your favorite. The winning combos will be announced Friday, April 2nd at Fig Central. Here is what they came up with:
Belvedere – Chef: Steve Drake
Meal: Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank with Dried Fig and Apricot. Served over tangerine risotto, roasted eggplant and topped with candied ginger.
Cocktail: Fig Bellini

Annie Bailey’s – Chef: Tyler Rice
Meal: Szechuan Pepper Seared Tenderloin of Wild Boar served with Fig Hoisin Glaze, Black Truffle Potato Gratin, Brown Buttered Carrot, and a Chambord Black Current Gastrique.
Bartender: Frank Fontaine
Cocktail: The Nailed Fig

Gibraltar – Pastry Chef: Anthony Valerio
Dessert: Chambord and fig souffle with fig dust. Diced fig with a raspberry source side of fig Chambord ice-cream and candied raspberries
Bartender: Tara Welsh
Cocktail: Fizzy Fig – Champagne, Fig Syrup, a splash of disaronno, squeeze of one lemon slice, dusted with a fig sugar rim topped with Chambord Rubies, and a splash of Chambord to settle on the bottom.

But, now we want to give you a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to one of these restaurants to try out the “per-fig pairing” or meal of your choice, and here is all you need to do:
Leave a comment here on this blog entry below. Perhaps tell us about the best meal you’ve had at a Downtown eatery, or even tell us which restaurant is your favorite, but the only way to enter to win is by leaving a comment.
Due to changes in how Facebook administers contests and promotions we will no longer be using our Facebook page as an official part of the contest. However, here are a few things you can do to help us out (but they aren’t requirements for entry):
This contest runs until 3pm Saturday (2/27) so make sure you enter and tell your friends!
And remember, if you’ve won something from us in the last 30 days, you aren’t eligible to win again until that time period is up! But feel free to help us spread the word anyhow.
Please Enjoy Chambord Responsibly. ©2009 Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur, 16.5% – 23% Alc. By Vol., Brown-Forman Beverages, Louisville, KY.
Mmm, food. I like food. Wouldn’t it be great to win.
This is a ‘fig’tastic giveaway. Gotta dig Fig.
Dishes look divine.
Thanks, Fig! My favorite restaurant is Annie Bailey’s.
All these places are wonderful! YUM!!!
I love the tasty variety of food from around the world, all in downtown Lancaster!
I have always wanted to try the food at Gibraltar, but I’ve never had the opportunity to do so. Lancaster offers so many chances for great food and I’ve loved everything I’ve ever eaten at Prince St. Cafe, Pemberley Teashop, and Lily’s on James.
Annie Bailey’s has got the best dessert! Their bread pudding with the Jameson reduction is absolutely awesome!!!
Love the pairings. Wanna taste them all!
Starting a “Tour de Restaurants of Lancaster” this coming weekend. Three couples, six great friends, tons of great restaurants to choose from. A contribution to our little experiment would be awesome!
Those are three of my favorite Lancaster City restaurants. Would love a dinner out with my husband.
Going to Annie Bailey’s in a few weeks for a reunion with some sorority sisters! We can’t wait!
I’ve never eaten at Gibralter, but the chsmbord and fig soufflé sounds heavenly!!
All the restaurants are great- Gibraltar being my favorite- but I have to hand it to Fig for getting them to exercise their creativity and think beyond their menus.
I cannot get over how delicious the Seafood Ciopanno is at Effie Ophelia’s, and I LOVE the Bangers ‘N Mash at Annie B’s!
I love you Fig — thanks for helping to bring attention to all of the great things — including great restaurants — that Lancaster has to offer!
Headed out to these great restaurants at the end of next month for my birthday! See you around!
Love city-living and all the GREAT places downtown. Favorite place… Fenz. You can’t beat the pickle fries!!!
I haven’t been out to dinner in the city for a while… a prize sure would make that happen sooner!
So many great places to eat in downtown Lancaster! We’re very lucky to have such outstanding choices.
The last time I ate at the Belvedere it was the Harmony. You have to love Lancaster’s selection of eateries. When we go out it’s hard to decide, Dipco, Characters, Iron Hill, etc.
These are all great restaraunts, but lately I must agree that Fenz is my favorite. I’m definitely a carnivor, but the vegeterian menu at Fenz is unparalleled. I just can’t resist skipping the meat sometimes — and it keeps my veggie friends smiling too
Plus a stellar staff.
Add these eateries to world’s largest mall online and you will have the most well-rounded out site there is. You may use this website to create a presence online, email blasts, travel planning, the world’s largest department store and all with great deals and more at http://www.esales-mart.com
I am impressed by the wonderful restaurants in the city of my own county. Great site here.
Great giveaway! Both restaurants offer unique environments.
Both restaraunts are terrific- really, there are so many great places to eat downtown. With a new baby, my husband and I are in need of a date night- its been eight months since we’ve been out by ourselves! Would love to have a romantic dinner at either place.
What a great giveaway!! I’ve heard so many great things about all these restaurants~ but never been to any of them! Would love to have a date night with my hubby!! Thanks for all you do, Fig, for keeping us informed with all the latest & greastest here in our own city. Gotta love Lancaster!
I LOVE the Belvedere— always have great food and great times with friends there.
Love the Belvedere’s grilled cesar salads and would love to try Gibralltar too.
I LOVE downtown Lancaster and would love to try some of these restaurants.
Would love to try Gibraltar as my hubby has taken clients there and raves about it… and everyone knows how great Annie Bailey’s is!
My husband and I need a date night! It’s been too long since we’ve been out–alone!
Eating out in Lancaster is great all the time. Favorites include Casa Bella, the smell of garlic, olive oil, sharp provolone wafting from the ovens, mmmmm. Also love the Loft for those special occassions. There are countless others, we are very lucky.
No need to leave Lancaster for a night out. So many great restaurants to choose from
Everything looks awesome! YUM.
MMMMM Wish I was in Lancaster eating instead of stuck in the house watching snow fall
I’m a fan of all three. I enjoy starting at one for apps, moving to the next for dinner, and finishing with coffee and dessert at the thrid.
I love figs! All the pairings sound amazing, I hope I get the chance to go try one.
Sounds delicious! We’re up for it! And we LOVE city life!
Haven’t been to Gibraltar yet but would love an opportunity to go!
Gibralter is capable of swimming with some of the big dogs in Philly!
I love all the downtown restaurants that Lancaster has to offer!
I love Senorita Burrita’s. It is our favorite Mexican food in the area! I would love a chance to try one of the more upscale restaurants in Lancaster. Thanks for the chance!
They’re all amazing
I think my Fav is Spyro Gyros.
Gibraltar has some of the best seafood dishes in the city. I would love to take my wife there again.
Mmmm… This would be a very tasty prize to win.
