First, let me share a few pictures of the entrance to this award winning brewery.

Assistant manager Jason Weeber was kind enough to take some time to chat with me the last time I stopped in. The history of the company is on their website and goes back further than most people realize!

Some things you may not already know that are important to know about LBC:

They are the ONLY fully Lancaster based brewing company in Lancaster

All their beers are brewed IN-HOUSE and if you go at the right time, you can see them working on them and take a tour. (11-3 weekdays – call to let them know you’re coming – it’s free and you can meet the brew master Bill Moore!)

pictured - Jim Pilat

They not only offer Steins with refill specials, but they have a mug club. “What is that you ask?” You purchase a 25 oz mug to get into the club. Along with your personalized mug, members get a free t-shirt, invites to 2 parties a year, and a new extended family. : )

They have won an array of awards from best overall brew (Strawberry Wheat, my personal favorite!), to best summer beer (Kolsch), and best design for a variety pack (it’s in the shape of a barn!) to name a few.

The staff is awesome there and I can’t recall a visit where I have not seen everyone smiling.

pictured - server Rob Kelser

You’ll remember from my Rachel’s post I am not a food critic, but I do like to share my thoughts on the places I visit. Lancaster Brewing Company has an amazing menu – and not just great munchies for while you’re drinking.
From their burgers, hand tossed pizzas, and entrées you’ll have A LOT of choices to perfectly pair with each beer. I never had their mussels before so on my most recent trip I ordered them – YUM YUM YUM!!!! The menu describes this dish as “Prince Edward Island mussels steeped in our Amish Four Grain Ale with garlic, sun dried tomatoes, leeks and fresh herbs. Served with grilled pita”.

I promise to be always be honest with you so I must say; at first I didn’t understand why I was getting pita pieces with mussels. However, after I tasted the liquid deliciousness that surrounded the empty mussel shells I understood- I sopped up as much as I could!

I highly encourage you all to go visit Lancaster Brewing Company to figure
out your favorite pairing of food and drink! Please let me know what you find out and as always, send suggestions on other places Lancaster needs to hear about! : )

Rachel’s Cafe & Creperie

I’ve been wanting to check out Rachel’s Cafe for quite awhile now, and when I was asked to start this blog I thought it would be the perfect time to finally go. My friend Kelly and I decided that it would be a great place to stop before we adventured around downtown for First Friday.

It’s hard as a first timer to choose what you want, but I finally decided on the veggie burrito. I loved that I could watch the folks in the kitchen putting together all the meals while we were waiting in line. The staff was really friendly while I was snooping around out front too-”thank you!”

My friend and I took a seat outside to wait patiently for our dinner, and when they delivered our food to us, I was so excited to finally get to taste what I have heard so much about!

I want to apologize for my description as I am not a food critique, but the crepes were AWESOME! The ingredients were so fresh and paired together so well. Everything I had heard was true and I was happily full after devouring the hand rolled deliciousness.

Excuse the bite marks on this crepe but I had to show what was inside. Do you see the melting cheese-just spectacular! I would have taken a picture of Kelly’s but it (The Capri) was gone before I got a chance. I didn’t need to even ask what she thought!

Thank you Rachel’s, I have a new favorite food. What’s that I hear? Oh, it’s just the rest of the menu calling me back

-Ronice

Greetings Lancaster!

My name is Ronice and I am a photographer here in Lancaster. I feel lucky to have a job I love so much and is so fun that it never actually feels like work! I grew up in Lancaster, but when I started volunteering at Fig Central I realized how very little I know about this amazing city, so I am super excited to be starting this blog.

I would love to hear any ideas of places I need to visit and I hope you’ll read about my adventures around the city. Stay tuned for surprises while I take in all that this authentic city has to offer! So post a message below, or click here to contact me.
