The country’s oldest farmers’ market, in the heart of Amish country occupies a beautiful 120 year old red brick building chock-full of local character. Regional food specialties include Pennsylvania Dutch sausage, scrapple (a breakfast meat of pork scraps and cornmeal), and headcheese (like scrapple, an acquired taste). You’ll also find preserves, including chowchow (pickled vegetables in a spicy mustard sauce), and bread and butter pickles. Open Tuesdays and Fridays, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Saturdays, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm year-round; the market is also a great place to buy souvenirs.

For decades residents of the Philadelphia area have arranged to meet their friends and relatives using the phrase “Meet me at the eagle”. In the center court of the Wanamaker’s (now Macy’s) Department Store stands a huge bronze eagle and that magnificent work of art has been a gathering place for Philadelphians for as long as anyone can recall.

Not to be outdone by the “City of Brotherly Love”, Lancaster has its own gathering place and it is Central Market. “Meet me at Market” has for decades been a part of the vernacular of Lancaster County. We meet at Market for a cup of coffee and a donut in the morning. We meet to select fresh vegetables and meats then share recipes for using them. We meet at Market for soup and a sandwich – and some sweets for dessert. We meet a friend from out of town so we can show off one of the most admired and photographed buildings in the area – in a location that has been a Market for over 275 years. It’s actually difficult to go to Market without meeting someone you know.

In a word, if you live in Lancaster or you’ve visited Lancaster or planned a visit to Lancaster or talked to someone who has visited Lancaster you’re almost certainly familiar with Central Market. It is a place like none other. No one is quite sure whether it’s a shopping place where people gather to socialize or a gathering, socializing place where people shop for great food. It’s hard to believe but occasionally someone will come to Market and not buy anything – they just want to be a part of Market.

We are an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice committed to the oral health of each patient. Dr. Eric Katch and Dr. Maxwell Adams can truly be described as a unique duo of service oriented professionals whose aim is to provide the highest level of patient care in combination with a maximum of comfort, sensitivity, and compassion for each and every individual. We honor our commitment by providing our patients with the most accurate and latest information about oral disease, so they can make the most informed decisions concerning their treatment goals and the process necessary to reach those goals.

Our philosophy is that oral disease requires proactive, not reactive treatment. We embrace our role working along side your family dentist and physician as co-therapists in a collective treatment of our patients. We look forward to building meaningful relationships with our patients as well as their dental and health care professionals in order to deliver the highest quality of health our patients deserve and desire.
