Yesterday was a day filled with laughter, celebration, and some good old-fashioned competition for all of us here at Moxie House. Later Tuesday afternoon the Summer Issue of Fig went to press and we were all able to take a deep breath. The publication will not be released until May 20th and we hope you all enjoy it! So in celebration of its design completion and of our newest addition to the team, Shani Tucker, we all participated in team bonding activities with Red Rose Segway Tours.
We showed up at 3pm ready and eager to get started. First we watched a brief introductory video all about segways and the proper way to operate them. Then it was time for each of us to actually get on one! Many of us were cautious at first but we soon became familiarized with the machines. Terri’s patience and excellent teacher skills made the tutorial quick and easy. She answered all of our questions and from her past few years of experiences with segways was able to anticipate any fears or hesitations we might have. We all rode around the store going over obstacles to better prepare for outdoor inclines or uneven breaks in the sidewalk. After we all participated in the training it was time to head out and play some games!
We all met at Binns Park and by this time many of us were not only comfortable with the segway but were trying eagerly to reach their highest speed! Terri and Bob set up all kinds of exciting games including; obstacle courses, jousting, beach ball roll, segway polo, and a toilet paper challenge. We all competed for points to win the competition.
The last competition was the toilet paper challenge, which made me laugh so hard I cried. Everyone pairs up and then has a piece of toilet paper taped to your helmet. Then the challenge is to weave back and forth in between two cones all while trying to avoid tearing the paper.
We all had such a fantastic time and made a lot of great memories that we will not soon forget. Thank you so much to Red Rose Segway Tours for giving us this opportunity! Moxie House loves segways and if you are interested in participating in a tour please make sure to check out their website for more details.
