The Lancaster Museum of Art is pleased to host the Echo Valley Art Group’s 65th Anniversary Exhibition. Since 1945 almost 100 artists have been a part of Echo Valley’s history with membership never exceeding 25 at any given time. Due to its tradition, high standards, and rigorous selection process for new members; membership represents a peer judgment of an artist’s status within the local artistic community. The Echo Valley Art Group turns 65 this year, an unusually long time for an organization such as this to survive.
Echo Valley will continue to be a vital force in the artistic life of Lancaster County and will continue, as it has in the past, to renew itself by welcoming new voices and visions.
We are seeing a change, a changing of the guard. The younger artists are well aware of their heritage and the need to preserve it.
Work by all current members is featured in this exhibition which is accompanied by a full color illustrated catalogue, sponsored by the Richard C. von Hess Foundation.
