THE MINT
DROPS THE "R" WORD
A lot can happen in 40 minutes. For The Mint, it’s a live show that takes an audience to the gates, an organic relationship that transcends the stage and makes manifest high standards of spirit and creativity. And yes, responsibility—a credo so core to the band that it’s become simply the “R” word. Much more than friends coming together in the basement to rock’n’roll, it’s a vow to forever air to listeners the vibe and talent of each musician. But even more importantly, The “brand” of The Mint is a living, breathing entity that is bigger than What they could individually do. “We’re just the messenger,”says lead singer Adam Kowalczyk. What does this “messenger” have to tell us? When you see a show, you’ll know. It’s all about “affecting people.” The Mint from its infancy has been a transition into the more mature meat of their music and philosophy, explains bassist Nate Jones (Jonesey). “We’ve been given a gift and not to do anything with it and share it with other people would be selfish.” And “selfish” is a foreign word in The Mint’s lyrical repertoire. Their emotional integrity, and that of their music, makes the term untranslatable. Whether they’re playing to five people —or 5,000. Whether across the country—or in Lancaster—the place they “call home,” Adam, Nate Van Name, and Jonesy all agree. “People are listening. And the energy doesn’t lie.” The Mint is not a product. Not a formula. It’s a life form, one that always leaves people at the gates, wanting more. The anthropomorphic “R” word in action.
