Ride Solar for Free
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER…NATE SMITH!
On September 17th, participants in Ride Solar will pedal the local countryside to solar power a school in Haiti.
Organized by Advanced Solar Industries, Ride Solar is a way for the local community to support a global outreach. Solar savvy students at Messiah College will receive the funding in order to make the installation happen at the start of summer 2012. Using solar to power the school doesn’t just mean students having a light to study under, or a place to have evening community gatherings, it also means greater security in a land dominated by looting. Additionally, power for circulating fans will deter bugs that cause malaria and skin infection.
After choosing a 15, 33 or 63 mile route, you will appreciate periodic water stops located at local solar installations. Start the first mile of the ride with a personal escort from a Tesla, a solar charged electric sports car!

I am excited about this partnership between local solar industries and educational institutions to work together towards helping better the lives of those who most need our help. Ride Solar is a great community event and is an innovative fundraising initiative!

I graduated from Messiah College, and it is always encouraging to see what they are doing to bring hope for communities around the world. It is a great privilege and responsibility to use our passions, like cycling, to better the lives of others around the world.

Cycling is a great blessing to my life, and it is a privilege be able to use it in some small way to help better the lives of others. I also strongly advocate alternative energy, but usually can’t do much to support it in any tangible way. You folks are offering me one, so I’m happy!

What I like about this event is it combines two things Ilike a lot. Riding my bike and alternative energy. Looking forward to this ride even if I don’t win. Thanks for the opportunity.
